The Site is built on data from OpenStreetMap and presents visual enhancements including color-coded roads based on posted speed limits and labeled sidewalk and pathway infrastructure.

Shred My Town is an exploratory idea tool only. It is not a navigation app, a traffic authority, a legal resource, or a safety guide. Nothing on this Site should be treated as a final, authoritative, or professional source of information.

3. A Critical Note on Data Accuracy

Please read this section carefully before using any information from this Site.

All map data displayed on Shred My Town is sourced from OpenStreetMap (OSM), a community-contributed geographic database. While OSM is a respected and widely used open-data project, it is maintained by volunteers and is not professionally verified, audited, or guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or up to date.

The following known limitations exist on this Site:

Road Speed Data

Speed limit information may be missing, outdated, or incorrectly entered in the OSM database.
Roads without speed limit data will not be color-coded or highlighted correctly. The absence of a color indicator does not mean a road is unregulated or safe to use in any particular way.
Speed limit data does not reflect temporary changes, construction zones, school zones, or other dynamic conditions.

Sidewalk and Pathway Data

Sidewalk labels and pathway markings are pulled directly from OSM contributor data. This data is frequently incomplete, inaccurate, or entirely absent for many areas.
A labeled sidewalk on this map does not confirm that a physical sidewalk exists, is accessible, is in a usable condition, is wide enough for your intended use, or meets any legal, safety, or ADA accessibility standard.
The absence of a sidewalk label does not mean a sidewalk does not exist.

General Map Data

Road geometry, classifications, surface types, and other attributes may not reflect real-world conditions, recent construction, road closures, or infrastructure changes.
Data gaps and errors exist throughout the dataset and are entirely outside our control.

Shred My Town does not verify, audit, or independently confirm any data on this Site. We pass OpenStreetMap data through to you with visual enhancements, and we make no claim that the underlying data is correct.

4. This Site Is for Ideas Only. Always Verify.

Shred My Town is intended to help you explore your surroundings, identify areas of interest, and get ideas for routes and places to visit. It is a starting point, not a final answer.

Shred My Town is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. We do not control the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of OSM data. If you identify errors in the underlying map data and wish to help improve it for everyone, you are encouraged to report or correct them at openstreetmap.org.

Any cartographic styling, visual enhancements, color coding, labeling logic, and design elements presented on Shred My Town are our own and are separate from the OSM data itself.

9. Intellectual Property

All original content on this Site, including but not limited to the Shred My Town name, logo, branding, design, visual styling, color schemes, custom overlays, and written content, is the property of Shred My Town and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, copy, distribute, modify, or commercially exploit any original content from this Site without express written permission. Map data from OpenStreetMap is subject to the ODbL as described in Section 8 and is not owned by Shred My Town.
